Teaching couples how to sail together has been her passion. Captain Josie has spent a lot of time understanding how women learn differently and then making sure that the woman's needs are met in the class.

Since her classes have been geared toward one couple at a time, couples are able to have thier individual needs and goals me. There is a more supportive atmosphere for each person. There is more helm time and more time to just have fun.

Learning to sail is about making things logical so you are not just going through the motions but understanding things so you can remember. Captain Josie offers a non-competitive learning atmosphere, we review the skills and actions so that students can learn how to do things more efficiently and always to be done safely. We are always evaluating our activities so that we can make determinations on better decisions in the future.

Teaching 2 people or one couple at a time is her preference. Knowing that most couples will spend most of their time together alone is the reason for teaching couples how to sail together safely and without yelling at each other is as important as both knowing how to handle the boat in all circumstances.
